Okay, everyone, the Hoyts online booking service is now open for OotP. If you want to go to the 8.30 PM screening at Hoyts Melbourne Central on Friday the 13th of July, and want me to book you a ticket online as part of the group I hope to be taking, please leave me a comment! It's $16 a ticket including the online booking fee of $1.

Edit Wednesday 11th July, 1 PM: I'm not taking any more bookings because the Hoyts website is stuffed, but everyone who asked before this has got a ticket. I'll be at Max Brenner's from about 5 PM onwards on Friday.

Yo, Cleansweepers, what're we doing for the Order of the Phoenix movie? We haven't had an outing in ages; it gets released on Wednesday the 11th of July, so what I was thinking was maybe we could go to a screening on the Friday night of that week, and dress up and all that fun stuff. I assume we'd probably go to Hoyts at Melbourne Central; we can work out more details when they release the screening times (which should be a while in advance if they do it like Pirates 3).

It's been far too long since we had a proper Cleansweep Melbourne gathering, and I was thinking that if people were interested we could maybe do something on the weekend of the 29th-30th of July, since Harry Potter's birthday is on the 31st (which is a Monday and thus probably unsuitable for such a gathering).

It would be mostly a chance for us to catch up in person as opposed to on LJ, but also to revive some of the traditional fun like Slash-Off writing contests and suchlike. And of course to dress up (if you want).

Who likes the idea?

Who has any thoughts about potential venues?

Who has a different date they would prefer? (This is why I'm suggesting it so far in advance, though, since hopefully people's calendars aren't that full.)

Hello Cleansweepers!

Does anyone know if anything specific is planned for the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on the 1st of December? I'm prepared to take the night off work if people are intending to have a release day movie expedition. I'm looking forward to dressing up in all my Hufflepuff splendour!

It's exactly a month to go until the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! That means 29 days until the Cleansweep launch party :D Hope you've all got it in your diaries, and are telling everyone you know where you'll be on the 15th of July!

I guess most Melbourne bookshops will have some sort of release event for Half-Blood Prince, but I just wanted to share this invite that I got today from Reader's Feast. It sounds like it might be worthwhile.

From cupiscent, delerieuse and watersusurrus:

The Fat Lady Digest is open for business and looking for submissions!

Inspired by the success of the LOTRPS zine Lotripping, we are establishing a quarterly hardcopy HP fandom zine containing fiction, essays and art focussed on specific themes and characters.

We plan for each issue to have at least one essay on the theme, approximately ten stories exploring either the theme or the spotlight character (or both!),  flash fiction and poetry and fan art in black and white or greyscale.

Issue One is entitled Muggles and Purebloods: race, class and power and our spotlight character is Draco Malfoy. Feel inspired yet?

So - If you write or draw in Harry Potter Fandom, are interested in working with trained editors and a professional standard publishing team, long
to see your name in print or just want to improve your craft, please visit our website to find out more!

The Fat Lady Digest
By the fans, for the fans.

Hello everyone - this is my first post here. :)

This is "old news" in the HP fandom I suppose, but Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan in the films) is supposed to be appearing at Supanova this year, in Brisbane at least. More details can be found at the website here.

It's April for Brisbane and October for Sydney... I live in Sydney so hopefully he will come back in October! (I couldn't have afforded to go in April, anyway). If I can go, I plan on going in costume. Maybe I'll cosplay Tom Riddle. Sure, I'm female, but it's Tom! ;)

Hey all.

This is so late but anyway, this it for the person in charge of the Cleansweep website.

At the Harry Potter movie thing for POA I was talking to someone about offering to do the site for you. Then I emailed someone about it and never really heard anything back.

Since then, I've fixed up the original layout and it's teh pretty.

So basically, whoever was in charge of the site can someone contact me through my email impossiblecuteness@hotmail.com with what you want me to do with it? I've basically done the general design for it, it's just waiting to be uploaded.

Okay so yeah, let me know what you guys want done with it and all that.

Hello boys and girls, it's one of your friendly neighbourhood mods again, coming to gague interest for an unpcoming event: a Hallowe'en costume party!

Yes, that's right, Hallowe'en isn't far away, but we were lamenting the lack of celebrations in Melbourne and thought we'd create one of our own. This will be a low-key affair - more like our February party than like Cleansweep PoA - in a pub or similar in the Melbourne city area. A good chance to gather together with likeminded folks and talk Fandom, share your fic and art and be as geeky as you like without repercussions or strange looks. And, to make things even better, you can come in costume!

It won't have to be Harry Potter themed costume, although you're welcome to come in your best dress robes if you so desire. This is just a chance to celebrate Hallowe'en with a really fun group of people. So let us know if that sounds good to you, and we'll make it happen!

So, want to come to a Hallowe'en party?

OMG yes!
11(84.6%)
Maybe.
2(15.4%)
Eh, if there's nothing better to do.
0(0.0%)
Hell, no.
0(0.0%)

If you can't attend because of other plans, would you come if the party was on the night before or after Hallowe'en?

Definitely!
3(25.0%)
Maybe.
3(25.0%)
No.
1(8.3%)
Other plans aren't a problem for me, at this stage.
5(41.7%)

Know anyone else who might like to come along? Significant others, family members, non-fandom friends or friends without LJs?

Hello! This is not a Cleansweep event, but I thought some of you might be interested, if you're in Melbourne. The next Fandom Party will take place on Monday 23rd August.

All are welcome. If you'd like to come, please let me know beforehand (by email or LJ-comment) so I have some idea of numbers, and so I can give directions if you're not on my f-list. :)

Hi everyone!

Some of you may have already heard about this, but it just came to my attention and I thought I'd let everyone know. FictonAlley is running a competition asking people to write or draw things about their community experiences and thoughts about PoA. The idea is to "creatively express your perspective on seeing Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban as a member of this Harry Potter fandom," and that sounds like fun to me :) Prizes for winning entries include things like a Trelawney tea set, time turners and other official HP merchandise.

The contest ends on June 15 which is in three days (!), but there's still time to submit something. I'll be putting something in myself, if I can find the time!

You can find the full details of the contest here.

Hi everyone!

I hope those of you who came along to our PoA gathering last night enjoyed yourselves, even though our plans to head back to Café Krifi after the film fell through. Worry ye not, there will be future Cleansweep events, so watch this space!

The results of our fundraising efforts are in, and we managed to raise $164, which is enough to provide 40 books for a Book Aid International donkey cart library.

Thanks for a great night, guys. We encourage you all to sign up for our mailing list by entering your e-mail address into the form on our website, so you can get information on upcoming events as they happen :)

Apparently - according to Harry Potter Meetup.com, anyway - it is International Harry Potter Meetup Day in five days!

I guess CleanSweep PoA is a little early *S*

This (the meet organised through HPMeetup.com) appears to be something that happens on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, and it isn't restricted to Melbourne - they happen all over Australia and the world.

I can't believe I haven't heard of this before!

Never mind. I can't make it to this one myself, because it falls right in the middle of exam season, but I thought some of you might be interested in a double dose of fannish socialising, on top of CleanSweep tonight! The information is here.

I'll be seeing you all in a few hours :)

PESTER. Yes, I've decided to bother everyone with an annoying post!

First of all. /Three days/. Goodness it's been difficult, avoiding reviews and spoilers, whilst trying not to wither completely out of envy, as all our US and UK friends see PoA for the umpteenth time, and we have to wait! Three days my friends, we'll make it!

Anyway, what was the reason for my babble? In my usual fashion of being last minute, rushed and disorganised, I'm trying to cobble together a costume of sorts for the Cleansweep event, I want to geek muchly. :D So my question is, how did those of you who are dressing up find your clothes? Can anyone out there help point me in the right direction? I need to round up a v-neck jumper and a grey skirt, inexpensively, if at all possible.

Please, if anyone can offer a bit of help. I'll love you forever, as I really, really would like to be among those in dress! Many, many sincere thanks and offers of chocolate in advance. XD

Oh! Also, I had another thought, David Thewlis (Professor Lupin), is he just doing a satellite thingy with Rove? Or is he actually going to be in Melbourne ..and within ..stalking ..distance? Bwahah.

Enough from me. Thankyouagain. XD

There's a poster of Daniel Radcliffe in today's Sunday Herald Sun, for anyone who's interested.

There are also just four more days to book your place for CleanSweep's Prisoner of Azkaban party! So what are you waiting for? Email info@cleansweep_oz.org with your full name, e-mail address and the number of tickets you need today.

On the night, we will be raffling off a range of wonderful prizes, with the proceeds of the raffle going to Book Aid International. The things you could win include both official Harry Potter merchandise and one-of-a-kind hand made offerings created specially for CleanSweep. Tickets for the raffle are just $2, or $5 for three tickets - a bargain in anyone's eyes! So come along and improve your karma by supporting a great cause, while getting a little something for yourself, as well.

All the details are up at our website, in case you've forgotten what's going on :)

It's still not too late to book! But there are only four days left, so book as soon as possible!
